Hello everyone!
Summer holidays are starting! Woo! Thank goodness, I don't know about you but I know that I need it. However, getting away is still difficult at the moment so this week I'm going to talk about a great holiday destination in England!
I'm sure you're already aware that Cornwall is a popular British holiday destination, and after going there myself recently I was reminded of why! Last month I visited the quaint and quirky seaside town of Bude. Not only is it stunning in the summertime, but a place which I think is iconically kawaii.
When we pulled into the car park and were confronted with the pastel painted houses overlooking the sea, my kawaii-senses staring tingling. Then, as I ventured around the beachfront and the seaside town, I was not disappointed! Obviously, in the sunshine, the beach and the grassy and rocky hills behind it are an aesthetic scenery to bask in for anyone.
Next, explore Bude Highstreet and independent shops to see what kawaii belongings you can find! There is an array of unbranded gift shops containing charming items and delectable treats.
Here are some of my favourite kawaii gift shops that I visited:
Wildwood Cornwall
Alchemist Jewellery
Asian Rose Boutique
Restaurants & cafes I recommend:
Cloud Nine Cafe - Now THIS was probably the most kawaii of anywhere in Bude. Partly because of the vast selection of delicious treats like ice creams and warm drinks, or because of the adorable outdoor seating area, but because of the staff! When I went I was greeted by a welcoming bunch of all female staff who were all really unique and allowed to dress and accessorize how they wished - which I think is always really refreshing.
Urchins - I went here for lunch and had delicious food.
There are also a range of tattoo parlors if that interests you. Due to there being so many, and it being quite a quiet area, I'm sure you'd be able to find the style you want with decent availability. Comment below if you've have ever gotten a tattoo from here and what your experience was like!
In conclusion, this rural area is a great place to visit if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of work and well... EVERYTHING for a few days! However, there's still enough for a day of shopping if you want to find some new nick nacks or gifts. Not only was it aesthetically appealing, but it was the friendly, chatty, and helpful workers of this tight-knit community that really made it for me.
So comment below if you've ever been to Bude and what you thought! Watch out for next week's post where I recommend a place to stay around this area.
Stay travelling kawaii style,
Fairy xxx
